Zanny Minton Beddoes oversees The Economist's global economics coverage, managing a team of writers around the world. Since her appointment in 2007, she has led The Economist’s analysis of events from the global financial crisis and its aftermath to the euro crisis. In 2013 she was named Senior Journalist of the Year by the Harold Wincott Foundation, Britain’s most prestigious award for financial journalism. In 2012 Beddoes and her colleagues won the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism for their editorials on the euro crisis.

In previous roles, Beddoes was responsible for The Economist’s coverage of the American economy and emerging markets. Before The Economist, she spent two years at the IMF, working on macroeconomic adjustment programs in Africa and the transition economies of Eastern Europe. In 1990 she worked as an adviser to the Minister of Finance in Poland. She has been published in Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy and contributed to several books.
