Grayson is a recognized expert on the IOP’s younger voter research exploring political beliefs of Millennials. He is also focused on exploring ways to increase fairness in, and access to, the democratic and electoral process. Grayson served two terms as Kentucky’s Secretary of State from 2004-11. Upon election, he became the youngest Secretary of State in the country. Grayson was recognized as a national leader in business services and government innovation—bringing more services online and enhancing Kentucky’s election laws through several legislative packages—and for reviving the civic mission of Kentucky schools by leading the effort to restore civics education. Grayson served as chair of the Republican Association of Secretaries of State and president of the National Association of Secretaries of State. In 2013, President Obama appointed Grayson to the bipartisan Presidential Commission on Election Administration with a mission to identify best practices and to make recommendations to improve the voting experience.
