Kahlil Byrd is the chief investment officer of Fund for the Republic, a nonpartisan, nonprofit grant maker committed to reducing the influence of money in American politics and policy. He is the former president of StudentsFirst, a political advocacy group focused on education reform. Before that, he was CEO of Americans Elect, which in 2012 sought to nominate and elect a third by presidential ticket for president. Byrd started his career as a journalist, working for National Public Radio and the BBC. He was a term member and an international affairs fellow with the Council on Foreign Relations. Byrd has a BA from Morehouse College and an MC/MPA from HKS.
